The Orange Vitamin Bear

Lily's cat Mittens pounced on something glowing in the garden. It was an orange as bright as a tiny sun!

"What's this?" Lily wondered, picking it up. The orange felt warm, like it held magic inside.

Suddenly, a sleepy bear shuffled out from behind the oak tree. But this wasn't any ordinary bear – his fur looked mussed, his eyes droopy, like he'd forgotten how to be a proper bear.

"I'm a zombie bear," he yawned. "I've been wandering for days, looking for the magical orange vitamin that will wake me up. Without it, I'll永远 stay sleepy and forget how to fish, how to climb, how to be a bear."

Lily looked at the glowing orange in her hand. "This must be it!"

But Mittens the cat batted at a butterfly, knocking the orange into the air! It rolled toward the garden fence, where a grumpy squirrel was watching.

"Please!" called the zombie bear. "That's my only hope!"

Lily and Mittens chased after the orange. The squirrel hopped on it, thinking it was a ball. Lily gently offered him a peanut instead. The squirrel traded, and she caught the orange just before it rolled into the street!

She brought it to the bear. He took a tiny bite and – FLASH! – his perked up, his fur grew shiny, his eyes bright.

"Thank you!" he beamed. "You saved me!" He did a happy dance, then caught a salmon from the stream like a proper bear should.

Lily learned something important that day: sometimes the smallest things – like one orange vitamin – can make the biggest difference. And true friends help each other, whether they have two legs, four legs, or fur.

Now every morning, Lily and Mittens visit their friend Bear by the stream, where he's never sleepy again, always ready for adventure.
