The Orange That Sparked Magic

Lily sat under the swaying palm tree in her backyard, staring at her iphone. The screen glowed with videos and games, but none of them made her smile anymore. Something felt missing.

"There must be more magic in the world than pixels," she whispered, tucking the phone into her pocket.

Suddenly, a bright orange rolled across the grass. But this wasn't any ordinary orange—it glowed with an inner light like a tiny sun!

Lily reached out her palm, and the orange hopped right into it, warm and tingling. A deep, friendly voice rumbled behind her.

"That's my starfruit," said a massive bull with shimmering golden fur and kind eyes. "I'm Barnaby, and I've been waiting for someone who believes in magic again."

Lily's eyes widened. "You can talk?"

"Only to those who put down their screens and really look," Barnaby winked. "The orange shows you magic if you're willing to see it."

He nudged her gently with his velvety nose. "Hold it tight and make a wish for something wonderful."

Lily squeezed the glowing orange closed her eyes. "I wish for real adventures with real friends."

*WHOOSH!* The orange burst into a thousand golden sparkles that swirled around them, carrying Lily onto Barnaby's back. Together they galloped through the sky, visiting cotton candy clouds, rainbow waterfalls, and meadows where fireflies danced in patterns that spelled out her name.

When they returned to the palm tree, Lily's iphone lay forgotten in the grass. The glowing orange had transformed into an ordinary one—but now it was the most magical thing she owned.

"Thank you, Barnaby!" she hugged the bull's golden neck.

"Anytime, little friend," Barnaby nuzzled her palm. "Remember—the best magic is real friendship. No screens required."

That night, Lily gave the orange to her little brother. "This," she said, "is where real adventures begin."
