The Orange That Rolled to Magic
Lily was playing in her garden when something extraordinary happened. An orange, glowing brighter than any fruit she'd ever seen, rolled right off her grandmother's table and started running across the grass!
"Wait! Come back!" Lily called, laughing as she chased the magical orange. It didn't just roll—it was really running, bouncing over roots and around flowers like it had somewhere important to be.
The orange led her through a meadow filled with butterflies that shimmered like tiny rainbows, past a babbling brook that sang happy songs, and deep into the part of the woods where she'd never explored before. Suddenly, the orange stopped at the edge of the most beautiful pool Lily had ever seen.
The water wasn't blue like ordinary pools—it was swirling with colors that changed like a sunset, turning from pink to purple to gold. Small silver fish with wings were leaping from the water, flying in joyful circles before splashing back down.
"I've been waiting for someone kind enough to follow me," said a tiny voice. Lily looked down to see a glowing fairy sitting on her magical orange! "I'm Twinkle, guardian of the Wonder Pool."
Twinkle explained that the pool showed magical visions to children with pure hearts. "Every day, you must do one kind thing, and the pool will show you something wonderful. But if you ever stop being kind, the magic will fade."
Lily promised, and that day she helped her little brother learn to tie his shoes. When she returned to the pool, it showed her an image of herself as an astronaut, floating among the stars!
For weeks, Lily did kind things every day—sharing her lunch, helping neighbors, comforting crying friends. Each time, the Wonder Pool showed her amazing visions: exploring deep oceans, discovering hidden treasures, meeting magical creatures.
One day, she found a crying boy named Marcus who had lost his way in the woods. Lily didn't hesitate—she held his hand and guided him home, even though it meant missing her daily visit to the pool.
When she finally returned, Twinkle was waiting with a proud smile. "You passed the true test. The magic wasn't about the visions—it was about becoming someone who helps others without expecting anything in return."
That night, the pool showed Lily the most beautiful vision of all: herself, surrounded by all the friends she'd helped, their faces shining with happiness. And in that moment, Lily understood that the real magic was kindness all along.
