The Orange That Dreamed
Lily loved the old palm tree in her backyard. Its long leaves danced in the wind like green fingers waving hello. Every evening, she would sit beneath it with her golden dog, Sunny, watching the sun paint the sky pink and purple.
One summer afternoon, something magical happened. A bright orange fruit fell from the palm tree and rolled right to Lily's feet. But this wasn't just any orange—it glowed with a soft, shimmering light!
"Look, Sunny!" Lily whispered. The orange wobbled, then hopped toward the swimming pool.
Sunny barked happily and chased after it. But when the orange reached the pool's edge, it didn't fall in. Instead, it floated! And not just floated—it spun like a tiny orange sun, sending ripples of magic across the water.
Suddenly, the pool transformed. The water turned into liquid rainbow, swirling with colors that had never existed before. Lily and Sunny watched in wonder as fish made of stardust swam through the rainbow water.
"Jump in!" a tiny voice squeaked.
Lily looked down. The orange was speaking! Its glow had grown brighter, and little sparkles danced around it.
"Are you magic?" Lily asked.
"I'm the Dream Orange," the orange replied proudly. "I fell from the magical palm tree to find someone with a big imagination. Want to see what's possible?"
Sunny didn't wait. The brave dog splashed into the rainbow pool—and began to float! His paws touched the rainbow surface as if it were solid ground.
Lily stepped in too. The moment her toes touched the magical water, she felt lighter than air. She began to rise above the pool, floating beside Sunny, while the Dream Orange spun beneath them like a happy orange moon.
For hours, they played in the sky above the pool, catching stars and making wishes on cloud feathers. The Dream Orange taught them that the most wonderful magic comes from friendship, curiosity, and believing in impossible things.
As the first evening star appeared, the Dream Orange whispered, "The magic fades with sunset, but the wonder stays in your heart forever."
The rainbow water returned to normal. The orange's glow softened until it looked ordinary again. But as Lily hugged Sunny under the palm tree, she noticed something—her palm now shimmered with tiny orange sparkles.
Every night after that, Lily and Sunny would sit by the pool, watching for magic. And sometimes, just sometimes, the water would ripple with rainbow colors, reminding them that the most amazing adventures begin with something as simple as a falling orange—and a friend to share it with.
