The Orange That Could Fly

Barnaby was a small dog with big dreams. Every afternoon, he'd watch the children playing baseball in the park, his tail thumping hopefully against the wooden fence. But whenever he tried to run with them, his little legs would get tangled, and he'd tumble into the grass.

One sunny day, something magical happened. Barnaby was sniffing around the old oak tree when he spotted something unusual—a bright orange glowing near the roots. But this wasn't an ordinary orange. It sparkled like a tiny sun, and when Barnaby nudged it with his nose, it whispered, "I'm a magic vitamin from the stars. I can give you one wish."

Barnaby's ears perked up. "I want to be fast! I want to play baseball!"

The orange vitamin rolled closer. "Climb on my back," it said, and suddenly the orange grew larger, floating just above the ground. Barnaby scrambled onto it, and whoosh—they were running through the sky!

Below, the baseball game stopped. Children pointed up in wonder. Barnaby could see everything—the winding river, the green forests, the houses like tiny toys. He felt powerful, like nothing could stop him.

But then he spotted something else—a lonely boy sitting on the bench, never getting picked for teams. Barnaby remembered how that felt.

"Wait!" Barnaby barked. "Let me down!"

The orange vitamin descended gently. Barnaby trotted over to the lonely boy and placed his paw on the boy's shoe. The boy's face lit up. "You want to play with me?"

That day, Barnaby learned something wonderful. The magic vitamin had given him a special ride, but what he really needed was friendship. He didn't need to be the fastest or the best—he just needed to share his heart.

The orange vitamin floated away, but Barnaby didn't mind. He had something better than magic: a best friend who would always throw the ball just for him, no matter how slow he ran.

And sometimes, if you look closely at sunset, you can still see that orange glowing in the sky, reminding everyone that the best adventures are the ones we share.
