The Orange Starfish's Gift
Lily sat on the edge of the sparkling blue ocean, her toes barely touching the cool water. She wanted to go swimming like the other children, but something always held her back.
"What if I sink?" she whispered to the waves.
That's when she saw it—a tiny, bright orange starfish washed up on the sand. It had five perfect arms and seemed to glimmer in the sunlight.
"Hello, little friend," Lily said gently, picking it up. The starfish felt warm, almost like it was holding onto her fingers too.
To her surprise, the orange starfish gave her little wiggle, as if waving. Lily laughed and placed it back in the shallow water. "You belong in the ocean."
The moment the starfish touched the water, something magical happened. The water around them began to glow with a soft orange light. Then, the most wonderful thing—the starfish spoke!
"Thank you, kind friend," it said in a voice like gentle bubbles. "For your kindness, I will share my gift with you."
The orange starfish touched Lily's hand, and suddenly she felt lighter, braver. "The ocean welcomes those who respect it. You're ready to truly start swimming."
That day, Lily discovered the water wasn't something to fear—it was a world full of wonder. She could swim better than anyone, gliding through the waves as if she'd been born in them. The orange starfish had given her courage, magic, and a new friendship.
Every day after school, Lily returned to swim with her starfish friend, exploring coral caves and dancing with colorful fish. She learned that the best adventures come from kindness, and that sometimes the smallest creatures can give the biggest gifts.
And whenever she saw an orange sunset reflecting on the water, Lily smiled, knowing magic was real—and it lived in the heart of the ocean.
