The Orange Spy's Secret Mission

Lily was playing in her backyard when she noticed something strange behind the big oak tree. A tiny creature with bright orange skin and the wildest, frizziest purple hair anyone had ever seen was peeking around the trunk, watching her.

"Are you a spy?" Lily asked, stepping closer with wide eyes.

The creature jumped! His orange skin turned even brighter with surprise. "A spy? No no no! I'm Bimble, and I only spy on happiness!"

Bimble explained that he was from the Magical Land of Colors, where he had been sent on a very important mission. His job was to find children who needed extra joy and sprinkle them with happy dust. But he was shy, so he'd been "spying" on Lily to make sure she was the right kind of kid—someone who loved adventure and had a kind heart.

"Why me?" Lily asked, her curiosity bubbling like soda.

"Because yesterday," Bimble said, "I saw you share your orange with the new boy at school when no one else would. And because you always stop to pet the neighbor's lonely cat. And because your laugh sounds like music!"

Lily felt warm inside, like sunshine after rain. She'd never thought being kind could be so magical.

Bimble reached into his pocketful of sparkly orange dust. "Close your eyes and make a wish!"

Lily squeezed her eyes shut and wished for something wonderful to happen.

When she opened her eyes, her whole backyard was glowing with tiny lights that looked like floating stars. Bimble danced around, his purple hair bouncing, his orange skin shining with happiness.

"Your wish is already coming true!" Bimble said. "The best adventures start with a kind heart!"

And from that day on, Lily noticed more magic everywhere—in sunrises, in rainbows, in the kindness of strangers. She never saw Bimble again, but sometimes when she was feeling lonely, she'd feel a soft orange glow nearby and knew her friend was still watching, making sure her heart stayed full of wonder and kindness.
