The Orange Sphinx's Secret

Lily loved exploring her grandmother's attic, especially on rainy Saturday afternoons. Today, she found something extraordinary — an old, dusty map that glowed with a warm orange light.

"Grandma!" Lily called, rushing downstairs. "I found a treasure map!"

Her grandmother smiled, her eyes twinkling. "That map leads to the Pyramid of Wishes, dear. But be careful — a sphinx guards it."

Lily's heart raced with excitement. She grabbed her backpack and stuffed it with snacks: an orange, granola bars, and juice boxes. The map pulsed in her hands, guiding her through the forest behind their house.

The trees grew taller and more magical with each step. Flowers whispered hello, and butterflies danced around her like colorful confetti. Finally, she reached a clearing where a golden pyramid shimmered in the sunlight.

But the sphinx was not what Lily expected. Instead of a scary monster, a friendly creature with bright orange fur and gentle eyes sat beside the pyramid.

"Hello, young explorer," the sphinx purred. "I've been waiting for someone kind to visit."

Lily approached slowly. "Are you going to ask me a riddle?"

The sphinx laughed, a sound like tinkling bells. "No, dear. I only ask that you share something special with me."

Without hesitation, Lily pulled the orange from her backpack and peeled it. "This is my favorite fruit. Would you like some?"

The sphinx's eyes widened with delight. She had never tasted anything so sweet and refreshing. In return, she touched Lily's forehead with her paw.

"Thank you for your kindness. The pyramid will grant you one wish."

Lily thought carefully. "I wish that everyone could have a friend as nice as you."

The sphinx's orange fur glowed even brighter. "That's the perfect wish. Kindness shared is kindness multiplied."

That night, Lily fell asleep with a smile, dreaming of new adventures and knowing that the best treasures aren't gold or jewels, but the friendships we make along the way.
