The Orange Sphinx's Secret
Lily's golden retriever, Barnaby, trotted happily beside her as they explored the forest behind their house. The morning sun painted the leaves in shades of amber and gold.
Suddenly, they discovered something amazing—a small sphinx made entirely of orange peels! Its tiny paws were made of zest, its eyes were little seeds, and when it spoke, its voice smelled like citrus sunshine.
"Greetings, young adventurers!" squeaked the Orange Sphinx. "I guard the magical stream that grants one wish each century. But first, you must solve my riddle!"
Barnaby wagged his tail enthusiastically. The sphinx cleared its throat and asked:
"What is small but mighty, comes from nature's bright treasure, and makes you strong enough to climb any mountain?"
Lily thought hard. She looked at the orange sphinx and suddenly understood! "A vitamin!" she exclaimed. "Oranges have vitamins that make us strong!"
"Correct!" cheered the sphinx, doing a little dance of joy. "Behind me flows the Wishing Water!"
The little sphinx stepped aside to reveal a sparkling stream that glittered like liquid diamonds. Lily knelt down and made her wish.
"I wish that Barnaby and I could always have wonderful adventures together!"
The water bubbled and swirled, and suddenly Lily and Barnaby both felt warm and happy inside. They knew their friendship would last forever, filled with magic, sunshine, and countless adventures.
From that day on, every time Lily ate an orange or drank water, she remembered the Orange Sphinx and the most important lesson of all: the best magic is the magic of friendship, and the greatest treasure is having someone wonderful to share life's adventures with.
