The Orange Sky Cable
Lily loved the old orange cable that hung from her treehouse. Every day after school, she'd grab it and swing, pretending she was flying through clouds. But today was different. Today the cable started glowing.
"Hello?" a tiny voice squeaked from below.
Lily looked down. There sat the roundest, brightest orange ball she'd ever seen, with two little feet and a big smile. "I'm Pip!" the ball said. "And I need your help!"
"What kind of help?" Lily asked, sliding down the cable.
"My friend Berry is sick," Pip explained sadly. "She lives in the Cloud Kingdom, and she needs special swimming vitamins to feel better. But I can't reach her alone!"
Lily's eyes widened. "Cloud Kingdom? Swimming vitamins?"
"Yes!" Pip bounced excitedly. "The clouds are like oceans. We swim through them! But Berry lost her vitamin bottle, and now she's too tired to swim home."
Without thinking, Lily grabbed Pip's hand. "I'll help you!"
"Hold onto the orange cable!" Pip shouted. "It's magical!"
The cable began to rise, lifting Lily and Pip higher and higher—past the treetops, past the birds, until they floated among fluffy white clouds that sparkled like sugar.
"Now we swim!" Pip said, kicking his feet.
Lily imitated him, and to her surprise, she glided through the cloud-ocean as if she'd been doing it her whole life. They found Berry floating sadly near a rainbow.
"Oh!" Berry's eyes lit up. "You found me!"
Pip revealed a small bottle of golden swimming vitamins. "Take these!"
Berry swallowed them, and instantly her color returned. She did a happy loop-de-loop. "Thank you, new friend!"
"Any friend who helps another friend is the best kind of friend," Lily said, beaming.
The three played cloud-tag until sunset, when the orange cable carried Lily safely home.
"Come back anytime!" Pip and Berry called, waving as she drifted down.
Lily touched her treehouse floor, grinning. Sometimes the best adventures start with a simple swing—and the best magic is helping friends in need.
