The Orange Pyramid Secret
Lily loved exploring her grandmother's attic. It smelled like dust and sunshine and secrets. One rainy afternoon, she found something peculiar—a perfectly round orange that glowed like a tiny sun.
"How strange," she whispered. The orange felt warm in her hands, pulsing with magic. Suddenly, it began to change! The fruit unfolded like paper, growing taller and wider until it became a miniature golden pyramid no bigger than a shoebox.
From atop the pyramid stepped a tiny bull with a coat like polished copper and eyes the color of honey.
"Greetings, young explorer," said the bull in a voice like jingle bells. "I am Barnaby, guardian of the Pyramid of Wishes. You found the orange key—only kind hearts can see its magic."
Lily's eyes widened. "A pyramid of wishes?"
"Inside this pyramid lives the last wish of the world," Barnaby explained. "Long ago, greedy people wanted wishes just for themselves. The pyramid hid away so only someone with a pure heart could find it."
Lily thought carefully. She could wish for anything—more toys, a pony, endless candy. But she remembered her friend Tom, who had been sad since his puppy ran away.
"I wish Tom's puppy comes home," Lily said.
The pyramid glowed golden. Barnaby smiled. "You've chosen wisely. The greatest wishes are the ones we give away."
That evening, Tom's puppy returned with a shiny orange collar. The miniature pyramid transformed back into an ordinary orange, but Lily knew it wasn't ordinary at all.
Sometimes, when she visits her grandmother's attic, she finds tiny gifts—a shiny copper button, a paper pyramid, or a perfect orange. Barnaby is still there, reminding her that magic is real for those with kind hearts.
And the best wishes? They're the ones you make for others.
