The Orange Pyramid's Secret
Lila loved swimming more than anything in the world. Every summer day, she would dive into the cool blue lake behind her house, pretending she was a mermaid exploring a magical kingdom.
One afternoon, dark clouds gathered overhead. Thunder rumbled like a giant's tummy, and purple lightning cracked across the sky. Most children would have run home, but Lila swam toward the center of the lake, where something strange was happening.
Beneath the water's surface, an orange glow pulsed like a heartbeat. Lila took a deep breath and dove deeper than she ever had before.
There, resting on the lakebed, was a perfect orange pyramid. It wasn't made of stone or metal—it shimmered like solid sunshine, with symbols that danced across its surface.
As lightning flashed above, the pyramid hummed to life. A beam of warm orange light shot upward, and suddenly Lila could breathe underwater!
A tiny orange fish with silver scales swam up to her. "You found it!" the fish chirped. "The Pyramid of Courage awakens only for the brave who swim during storms!"
"What does it do?" Lila asked, wonder filling her eyes.
"It grants one wish to those who prove themselves fearless," said the fish. "But the wish must be for someone else."
Lila thought of her little brother Timmy, who was afraid of the water and never learned to swim. "I wish Timmy could love the water as much as I do."
The pyramid blazed brilliantly, sending ripples of orange light through the entire lake. When the light faded, the fish smiled. "Your wish is pure and kind. It shall be so."
Lila swam back to shore as the storm passed. That evening, Timmy ran to her, eyes wide with excitement. "Lila! I had the most amazing dream—I was swimming, and it was wonderful! Can you teach me?"
Lila smiled, touching the small orange scale that had appeared on her wrist like a bracelet. Sometimes, she learned, the bravest thing you can do is wish for someone else's happiness.
And every storm after that, Lila would swim in the lake, watching for her orange friend and remembering that true magic lives in kind hearts.
