The Orange Pyramid's Secret
Leo was bored. Summer stretched long and lazy, with nothing to do but stare at the attic ceiling. That's when he spotted it—a small orange pyramid tucked behind a dusty trunk.
It glowed. Actually glowed, like a tiny sunset captured in crystal.
Leo reached for it, but something stopped him. A thick black cable snaked from the pyramid's base, disappearing through a tiny hole in the wall. Where did it lead?
His friend Mia had taught him to follow mysteries. "Every question is an adventure," she always said. But Mia was visiting cousins for three weeks, and Leo missed her terribly.
The pyramid hummed in his hands, warm and alive. Without thinking, Leo gave the cable a gentle tug.
WHOOSH!
The attic dissolved into golden light. When his vision cleared, Leo stood on a floating court of clouds. Above him, three moons of different colors hung in a lavender sky.
"Welcome!" called a voice.
A girl with silver-streaked hair swung a glowing racket. She hit a ball that sparkled like captured stars. "I'm Nova. You found the Orange Pyramid!"
"What is this place?"
"The Realm of Racket." Nova grinned. "We play padel here—magical padel. The ball never lands the same way twice. Want to play?"
Leo had never played, but his feet moved on their own. The moment his racket touched the ball, he understood everything. This wasn't about winning. It was about joy, about the ball becoming whatever you needed it to be.
They played until Leo's arms tingled with happiness.
"The cable," Nova said, pointing. "It connects realms. Anyone who believes in magic can find their way here."
Leo thought of Mia. "Can my friend come too?"
Nova's smile widened. "That's why pyramids choose their finders. They're meant to be shared."
Back in his attic, Leo tucked the orange pyramid into his pocket. The cable still hummed against his fingers, pulsing with possibility.
He pulled out his phone and texted Mia: I found something amazing. Can't wait to show you.
Some discoveries are too wonderful to keep to yourself. The best adventures, Leo realized, are the ones you share with your friends.
