The Orange Pyramid's Secret

Lily discovered something magical in her backyard last summer. It wasn't big at first—just a small golden shape peeking through the grass. But every morning, it grew taller. By Friday, it had become a perfect golden pyramid, shining in the sunlight like something from a fairy tale.

Lily pressed her hand against the smooth surface. The pyramid felt warm, almost alive. Suddenly, a door appeared, and inside she found the most beautiful swimming pool she'd ever seen. But this wasn't just any pool—the water glowed bright orange, like liquid sunshine!

"Hello?" called a soft voice.

Lily jumped. Behind a stone column stood a green figure, but not a scary one. It was a zombie, but his clothes were neat, his smile was friendly, and his eyes sparkled like stars.

"I'm Zed," he said shyly. "I'm the guardian of the Orange Pyramid Pool."

"But... aren't zombies scary?" Lily asked, taking a step back.

Zed's shoulders drooped. "That's what everyone thinks. But I'm not scary. I just want friends. The magical orange pool can grant wishes, but only to those who are kind enough to see with their heart, not just their eyes."

Lily looked at Zed—really looked at him. She saw kindness in his gentle smile, loneliness in his sad eyes, and hope in the way he fidgeted with his fingers. This wasn't a monster. This was someone who needed a friend.

"I don't think you're scary," Lily said softly. "I think you're wonderful."

The orange pool began to bubble and glow even brighter. Zed's eyes widened with joy.

"You made a wish come true already," Zed whispered. "You wished to see the real me."

They became best friends that summer. Lily visited the pyramid every day, and Zed showed her amazing magic—making orange flowers bloom, creating glowing butterflies, and once, even turning the pool water into delicious orange juice!

When school started, Lily worried she'd forget her magical friend. But Zed gave her a small orange pyramid charm to wear around her neck.

"Magic doesn't disappear," he told her. "Friendship is the strongest magic of all. It lives in your heart."

And he was right. Every time Lily looked at her orange charm, she remembered the most important lesson she'd ever learned: the most magical things aren't pyramids or pools or wishes. The real magic is kindness, friendship, and seeing the beauty in everyone—even unexpected friends like a zombie named Zed.
