The Orange Pyramid's Secret
Lily built her sandcastle carefully, shaping it into a perfect little pyramid. The beach was quiet except for the gentle waves and the swaying palm trees overhead. Her grandfather had told her stories about real pyramids in Egypt, where pharaohs were buried with treasures. But here on the sunny coast, her pyramid was made of sand and decorated with seashells.
'Need a snack?' her mom called, handing her a bright orange from the cooler. Lily thanked her and placed the orange on top of her sandy pyramid as a decoration. It looked like a golden sun resting on ancient Egyptian stones.
Something strange happened. The orange began to glow, warm and bright against her palm when she touched it. The sand pyramid started to shimmer, growing taller and wider until it became a real pyramid made of golden stone. Lily gasped as the orange rolled to her feet, now glowing with magical light.
'Follow me,' it seemed to whisper in her mind.
Lily stepped through a mysterious doorway that appeared in the pyramid's side. Inside, she found a young boy sitting alone in a grand room filled with toys and games, but he looked terribly sad.
'I'm Prince Kael,' the boy said. 'I have everything, but no one to play with. Everyone is too afraid to approach the pyramid.' He held out his hand, his palm empty and lonely.
Lily smiled and sat beside him. 'I'm not afraid,' she said. She showed him how to build sandcastles, told him jokes, and shared her orange, splitting it into equal pieces. 'Friends share,' she explained simply.
For hours they played, and Kael's sadness disappeared. 'Will you come back?' he asked, his eyes hopeful.
'Every time I visit the beach,' Lily promised.
The magical glow returned, and suddenly Lily was back on the beach, her mom calling her for dinner. The sand pyramid was just a small sandcastle again, and half an orange sat beside it. But in her pocket, Lily found a small golden scarab beetle — a gift from Kael.
That summer, Lily returned to the beach many times. Each time, the orange would glow, the pyramid would appear, and she would play with her lonely friend. Kael began inviting other children to visit, and soon the pyramid wasn't lonely anymore. The prince who had everything finally had what he needed most: friends.
Lily learned that the best magic isn't in glowing oranges or mysterious pyramids. The real magic is kindness, friendship, and sharing what you have with others. And whenever she saw a palm tree sway in the breeze, she smiled, knowing her friend was waiting for their next adventure.
