The Orange Pyramid of Dreams

Lily loved her grandmother's attic. It smelled like cinnamon and secrets, and every corner held something magical. On this rainy afternoon, she discovered something she had never noticed before—a bright orange hat tucked behind an old trunk.

It wasn't just any hat. This one had a pyramid shape that pointed to the ceiling like a wizard's tower. Lily lifted it gently, and her curly hair crackled with static. Tiny sparks danced around her fingers like captured starlight.

"Grandma!" she called, rushing downstairs. "This hat is magic!"

Her grandmother smiled, her eyes twinkling. "Ah, the Pyramid Hat. It belonged to your great-uncle Marco. He could make dreams come true when he wore it."

Lily's eyes widened. "Any dream?"

"Any dream," Grandma nodded. "But you must use it for something good. That's the secret."

Outside, lightning flashed across the dark sky, and thunder rumbled like a giant's tummy. Lily remembered her friend Leo, who was scared of storms. His family had just moved here, and this was his first big thunderstorm.

Lily knew what to do.

She put on the orange Pyramid Hat and closed her eyes. She pictured Leo's face—frightened and alone in his new room. She imagined him feeling brave and safe. She wished for him to have a friend who would stay with him through the storm.

CRACK! Lightning struck somewhere nearby, and the house lights flickered.

The hat grew warm against Lily's head. When she opened her eyes, tiny orange lights floated around her like fireflies. They drifted toward the window, then out into the rainy night, flowing toward Leo's house.

Lily followed them, splashing through puddles in her yellow rainboots. She knocked on Leo's door just as another boom of thunder shook the ground.

Leo opened the door, looking pale and worried. But when he saw Lily, his shoulders relaxed. "I was scared," he admitted.

" storms can be scary," Lily said, taking his hand. "But they're also nature's fireworks show. Want to watch together?"

Leo smiled. "Yes!"

They sat on his front porch wrapped in blankets, counting the seconds between lightning flashes and thunder rumbles. "One one thousand, two one thousand—BOOM! That was close!" Leo laughed, his fear melting away with every flash.

The orange Pyramid Hat glowed softly on Lily's head, and she knew: making someone feel safe was the real magic all along.
