The Orange Pyramid Guardian
Lila loved exploring her grandmother's attic, filled with dusty boxes and mysterious treasures. One rainy afternoon, she found something peculiar—a small orange pyramid made of glowing crystal. It pulsed like a tiny heartbeat in her hands.
"That belonged to the Dream Guardian," her grandmother whispered, appearing in the doorway. "He protected children's nightmares long ago."
That night, Lila placed the pyramid under her pillow. She dreamed of golden sands and ancient temples. Suddenly, the pyramid glowed bright orange, and a figure emerged—not scary, but gentle. He had greenish skin and tattered clothes, but his orange eyes sparkled like sunset.
"I'm Zizi," the zombie said, bowing. "I've been waiting for someone brave enough to find me."
Lila wasn't frightened. "You're not like the zombies in my storybooks."
Zizi smiled sadly. "People feared me because I looked different. But I only ever wanted to help." He touched her forehead with his orange crystal. "Tonight, let me show you real magic."
Suddenly they were floating above her school, then diving into orange oceans, then racing shooting stars. The pyramid's orange light wove beautiful dreams for every sleeping child.
"Why orange?" Lila asked.
"Orange is the color of courage and friendship," Zizi explained. "It's the sunrise that chases away darkness."
Morning came too soon. Zizi faded back into the pyramid, but not before pressing something into her hand—a tiny orange crystal pyramid.
"Keep this safe," he whispered. "Remember: the bravest thing you can do is see with your heart, not just your eyes."
Lila woke to find both pyramids on her pillow. She realized that some things that seem scary might just be lonely, waiting for someone to look past appearances and find a friend.
Now, whenever she sees an orange sunset or meets someone who looks different, she smiles—because she knows that magic and friendship come in the most unexpected packages.
