The Orange Pumpkin Spell
Luna was a curious black cat with bright green eyes. She lived near an old orchard where magic sometimes happened on moonlit nights.
One evening, Luna saw something strange—a friendly fox named Rusty trotting toward the forbidden pumpkin patch. His tail twitched with worry.
"Luna!" whispered Rusty. "My brother drank from the magic puddle! The water turned him into a zombie!"
Luna's ears perked up. She had heard of zombie pumpkins—vegetables that came to life and shuffled around at midnight—but a zombie fox? That was new.
"Is he scary?" Luna asked, her whiskers trembling.
"No!" Rusty's big brown eyes filled with tears. "He just walks in circles and says 'brain' but he doesn't mean it. He's sad, Luna."
Luna made a brave choice. "Take me to him."
They crept through the orchard until they found Rusty's brother, Copper, stumbling near an orange pumpkin. Copper's eyes were glazed, and he mumbled "brain... brain..." while reaching toward pumpkin seeds.
Luna noticed something—water dripped from the pumpkin's stem onto the ground. A magical puddle.
"The orange water!" Luna realized. "It's not a zombie spell—it's a forgetfulness spell!"
Luna remembered what her grandmother had taught her: orange pumpkins held memory magic. If someone forgot who they were, pumpkin magic could bring them back.
"Rusty, push that orange pumpkin to him!" Luna commanded.
Rusty nudged the pumpkin toward his brother. As Copper's paw touched the orange skin, his eyes cleared. The pumpkin's magic surged through him, washing away the forgetfulness.
"Luna? Rusty?" Copper shook his head. "Why was I saying 'brain'? That's silly."
Rusty tackled his brother with a hug. "You're back!"
Luna purred. "Magical water can be tricky. Always ask first before drinking from strange puddles."
The three friends spent the rest of the night eating pumpkin seeds and sharing stories. Luna learned that being brave meant helping others, even when things seemed scary. And Copper? He never went near magical puddles again—but he did bring Luna orange treats every morning, just in case she needed memory magic too.
Sometimes, the scariest things just need a friend (and a little pumpkin magic) to set them right.
