The Orange Pool of Magic
Lily loved summer evenings at the old swimming pool in her neighborhood. The pool sparkled under the moon, and the water felt like liquid silk on her skin. But Lily never had anyone to swim with. She watched other children play with their friends, wishing for someone to share her midnight adventures.
One Tuesday, something strange happened. As Lily dipped her toes into the water, tiny ripples turned orange. Then bigger ripples. Within seconds, the entire pool glowed like a giant orange sunset! Lily gasped as the water transformed into swirling orange ribbons that danced around her.
Then she saw him—a small boy with hair the color of sunshine, floating inside what looked like a magical orange bubble. He had the biggest smile Lily had ever seen.
"I'm Finn!" he called, his voice echoing like bells. "And this is my birthday present from the magic pool!"
"Your birthday?" Lily asked, swimming closer.
"Every year on my birthday, the pool grants me one wish," Finn explained. "This year, I wished for a friend to share my adventures. And here you are!"
Lily's heart leaped. For the next hour, they played tag with the orange water bubbles, raced on magical waves, and shared stories about their dreams. Finn wanted to be an explorer, and Lily wanted to write books about magical places.
As the moon began to set, Finn's orange bubble started to fade. "Will I ever see you again?" Lily asked, her voice trembling.
Finn pressed his hand against hers. "The pool knows who belongs together. If we both believe, we'll meet again."
The next morning, Lily found a small orange pebble on her towel. And when she looked across the pool, she saw a boy with sunshine hair sitting alone, reading a book about explorers. Their eyes met, and both smiled.
Sometimes, the best friends appear in the most unexpected ways—even in a pool of orange magic.
