The Orange Pool Friend

Lily was running through her backyard when she spotted something strange by the old swimming pool. It looked like a zombie, but not the scary kind from movies. This creature had bright orange skin and sparkly green eyes.

"Hello?" Lily called out softly.

The zombie jumped! "Oh! I didn't see you there. I'm Zed, and I'm NOT really a zombie. I'm a Pool Guardian from the magical world underneath swimming pools when no one's looking."

Zed's skin matched the orange afternoon sun perfectly. He looked lonely.

"Are you okay?" Lily asked, stepping closer.

"I'm lost," Zed sighed. "I came up to find the legendary Orange of Friendship, but I can't find it anywhere. It's supposed to glow brighter than anything when true friends are near."

Lily's eyes widened. She reached into her pocket and pulled out her favorite orange marble — shiny, round, and filled with swirls of light.

"Like this?"

The moment Zed saw it, the orange marble began to GLOW! It lit up like a tiny sun, brighter and warmer than anything Lily had ever seen.

"You found it!" Zed cheered, dancing a happy little jig. "The Orange of Friendship! It only shines when someone has a truly kind heart."

Zed explained that he needed help getting back to his magical pool kingdom. Lily grabbed her swimming float, and together they figured out that Zed could travel through water. As the sun set, Lily watched her new friend dive into the pool, disappearing in a splash of orange sparkles.

"Thank you, Lily!" Zed's voice echoed. "True friendship is the greatest magic of all!"

That night, Lily fell asleep with her glowing orange marble on her nightstand, knowing that sometimes the most unusual friendships are the most wonderful ones of all.
