The Orange Phone Magic

Mia was playing in her backyard when something shiny caught her eye. Half-buried in the dirt near the orange tree was her dad's old iPhone! He'd been looking for it everywhere.

Mia brushed away the dirt. The screen still worked, but something strange happened. The phone glowed with a soft orange light, and suddenly, she could see tiny creatures dancing across the screen.

"Whoa!" Mia whispered.

That's when her orange tabby cat, Mango, padded over. His fur stood on end, static electricity making his hair puff out like a fluffy orange cloud. The phone's magic seemed to affect everything around it.

Suddenly, the Halloween decoration in the corner—the funny plastic zombie that Mia had helped paint—began to wiggle! Its plastic arms waved, and its painted smile grew wider.

"Hello!" said the zombie in a friendly voice. "I've been stuck in that corner for months. Thank you for waking me up!"

Mia wasn't scared at all. "You're alive! Well, sort of alive."

"I'm Zed," said the zombie, extending a green hand. "And I've been watching you play. You seem lonely. Would you like an adventure?"

Mia's eyes widened. "Yes! But my parents say I shouldn't talk to strangers. Even magical ones."

"Fair enough," Zed said thoughtfully. "But maybe we could be friends first? Friends go on adventures together."

Mango the cat rubbed against Zed's plastic leg, purring loudly. Even the cat liked Zed!

"Okay," Mia said with a grin. "But we have to be back before dinner."

The iPhone's orange glow intensified, and suddenly the backyard transformed. The orange tree became a magical forest, the swing set turned into a pirate ship, and Zed led them on the most wonderful adventure any child had ever known.

When Mia's mom called her for dinner, the magic faded. But Mia knew that whenever she felt lonely, she could find magic in unexpected places—even in an old phone, a funny zombie, and her very own imagination.
