The Orange Palm's Magic Gift

Lily lived where the sand met the sea. Every morning, she walked past the old palm tree that leaned over the sparkling blue water. This palm was special—its leaves shimmered like rainbow when the sun touched them.

One hot afternoon, Lily noticed something strange. A single orange fruit had grown on the palm tree overnight. It glowed softly, like a tiny sun trapped inside its skin.

"Who are you?" she whispered, reaching up.

The orange bobbed happily. "I'm Pip!" it squeaked. "And I have magic inside me!"

Lily gasped. "A talking orange?"

"Not just any orange," Pip said proudly. "I can become whatever water you need—rain for thirsty gardens, puddles for jumping, even bubble baths for puppies! But I must choose someone with the kindest heart to share my magic."

Lily's eyes widened. "My grandma's garden is dying because there's no rain. And the beach kittens need drinking water!"

Pip spun around on his branch. "Then let's help them together!"

He hopped into Lily's palm. She ran to her grandma's garden, where wilted sunflowers drooped sadly. Pip squeezed his eyes shut and—POP!—became a gentle sprinkle of sweet-smelling orange water. The flowers perked up instantly, turning bright gold.

Next, they found three kittens near the beach. Pip transformed into a shallow bowl of cool water. The kittens purred as they drank.

"Thank you," Lily whispered as Pip turned back into an orange.

"You chose to help others first," Pip said. "That's the truest magic of all."

That night, Lily planted Pip's seeds near her special palm. Now whenever someone needs help, an orange glows on its branches, waiting for a kind heart to find it.

Because the best magic, Lily learned, isn't about what you can do—it's about who you help.
