The Orange Palm Promise
Lila loved **running** through the forest behind her house, but she'd never seen anything like what she found that Tuesday afternoon. While chasing a blue butterfly near the old oak tree, she spotted something glowing beneath a pile of leaves.
It was an **orange** the color of sunset, but it wasn't like any fruit from the grocery store. This orange sparkled and shimmered, and when Lila picked it up, it felt warm in her hand, almost like it was alive.
"Hello there," said a tiny voice.
Lila nearly dropped the orange. "Who said that?"
"Me! The orange!" The voice giggled. "I'm Clementine, and I've been waiting for someone with a brave heart to find me."
"You can talk?" Lila whispered, her eyes wide.
"I can do more than talk," Clementine said. "Hold me in your **palm**, make a wish, and see what happens!"
Lila cupped the glowing orange carefully. "I wish... I wish I could see the world from up high. I want to know how birds feel when they fly!"
Suddenly, her feet lifted off the ground! Lila gasped as she began floating upward, gently and safely. Clementine's orange light surrounded her like a warm blanket, and suddenly she was soaring above the treetops.
"Look!" Clementine cheered. "The forest is beautiful from up here!"
They flew over rivers and meadows, waved at surprised birds, and even did loop-de-loops in the sky. Lila had never felt so free and happy.
But as the sun began to set, Clementine grew dim. "It's time for me to sleep now," the orange whispered. "But before I go, I need to tell you something important."
Lila landed softly in the meadow. "What is it?"
"Magic like this should always be shared," Clementine said. "The best adventures are the ones we have with friends. Promise me you'll come back tomorrow and bring someone special?"
"I promise," Lila said, pressing the orange to her cheek.
The next day, Lila brought her friend Marcus, who had never flown before. His eyes lit up when he saw the orange glow, and together, all three of them soared through the clouds, laughing and racing the wind.
And every day after that, Lila and Marcus took turns bringing different friends to meet Clementine. Because they learned that the best magic isn't just about flying—it's about sharing joy with everyone around you.
Now, whenever Lila sees an orange, or feels the warmth of the sun on her palm, or goes running through the forest with her friends, she smiles and remembers: the real magic was never just in the flying. The real magic was in the friendship they all found along the way.
