The Orange Palm of Running Dreams

Lila loved the old palm tree at the edge of her grandmother's garden. Its leaves whispered secrets in the wind, and Lila would press her palm against its rough bark, feeling its ancient magic pulse through her fingers.

One evening, as golden light painted the sky, Lila discovered something extraordinary nestled among the palm fronds—a glowing orange fruit that shimmered like a tiny sun. Her grandmother had warned her about magical fruits, but this one pulsed with warmth and kindness, not danger.

"Are you lonely?" Lila whispered, pressing her palm to the orange. It nodded—or seemed to! The orange rolled down the trunk and began running toward the forest.

"Wait!" Lila called, running after it.

The orange led her through meadows of silver flowers and across brooks that sang lullabies. Finally, it stopped at a clearing where hundreds of glowing oranges floated around a baby moonbeam trapped in a net of thorny vines.

The poor moonbeam was fading! Its soft blue light dimmed with each breath.

The orange Lila had followed bounced excitedly. She understood—these magical oranges were guardians! But they needed her help. Without thinking, Lila pressed her palm against each orange, transferring them to the moonbeam. The oranges glowed brighter, their warmth melting the thorny vines until the moonbeam floated free, shining like a captured star.

The moonbeam nuzzled Lila's cheek with cool light, then danced upward to join its mother moon. All around her, the oranges began running back to their palm tree, glowing with gratitude.

Lila ran home, her heart full of magic. That night, she dreamed of running with moonbeams and palm-frond forests, knowing that kindness, like magic, lives in the palm of every child willing to help.
