The Orange Marble's Magic Pool
Lily loved running through the meadow behind her house. Her feet danced across the grass like butterflies, and the wind whispered secrets in her ears. But today, something tumbled from her pocket—a bright orange marble that Grandmother had given her.
The marble rolled faster and faster, bouncing over roots and rocks. Lily ran after it, her heart pounding with excitement. Where could it be going? Marbles didn't run on their own!
Suddenly, the marble disappeared into a cluster of bushes. Lily pushed through the leaves and gasped. Before her lay a pool she had never seen before, its waters shimmering like liquid sapphire. And there, floating in the center, was her orange marble—glowing like a tiny captured sun.
A splash! A creature popped up beside it. He had emerald scales and kind eyes. "You dropped this," the fish-boy said, holding the marble with his fin. "I'm Finn. This is the Wonder Pool, where magical things find their way home."
Lily stepped closer. The pool's reflection showed not just her face, but hundreds of memories—running races, birthday parties, starry nights. "This is amazing!"
Finn smiled. "The pool shows us what matters most. Sometimes we're so busy running that we forget to notice the magic around us. Your orange marble glows because it's filled with love from your grandmother."
Lily reached for the marble, then paused. "You should keep it for a while. You showed me something wonderful."
Finn's eyes sparkled. "New friends are the best magic of all. Visit whenever you want—but remember, the real wonder isn't in the pool. It's in the friendship you make along the way."
That evening, Lily walked home instead of running, watching the sunset paint the sky orange. She hadn't found just a marble. She had found magic, friendship, and a reminder that the best adventures are the ones we share with others.
And sometimes, the most wonderful discoveries are the ones we find when we slow down long enough to see them.
