The Orange Goldfish's Magical Game
Lily loved visiting her grandmother's garden, especially the vegetable patch where giant spinach leaves grew bigger than umbrellas. One sunny afternoon, while hiding among the emerald leaves, she spotted something extraordinary—a small orange goldfish swimming through the air as if it were water.
"Hello there!" Lily whispered, but the goldfish didn't speak. Instead, it circled around her leaving sparkly trails, then darted toward the old shed where Grandmother kept her sports equipment. Curious, Lily followed.
Inside the shed, the goldfish hovered beside a dusty padel racket. Suddenly, the racket began to glow with a warm orange light. The goldfish bubbled happily and nudged Lily's hand with its nose.
"Do you want to play?" Lily asked, giggling.
The goldfish did a flip in the air. Lily picked up the padel racket, and to her amazement, when she swung it, orange bubbles floated out instead of a ball. Each bubble contained a miniature scene—a playground, a castle, a forest.
"This is magic!" Lily exclaimed.
For hours, they played together. Lily would hit the bubbles with her padel, and the goldfish would chase them, popping each one to release tiny showers of glitter that made the garden sparkle like fairy dust. The spinach leaves became their audience, gently waving in approval.
As sunset approached, the goldfish grew tired. It swam slowly to Lily's shoulder and rested there, its orange scales shimmering in the golden light.
"You're my best friend," Lily said softly. "Will I see you again?"
The goldfish kissed her cheek, leaving a small orange mark shaped like a heart. Then it swam upward, disappearing into the first star of the evening.
Lily ran inside to tell Grandmother everything. Her grandmother smiled knowingly and pointed to a small orange heart on Lily's cheek.
"Some friends are magical," Grandmother said. "They appear when we need them most and leave us with memories that last forever."
That night, Lily dreamed of spinach forests and orange goldfish, knowing that magic exists for those who believe in the impossible. And every time she saw an orange sunset, she remembered her extraordinary friend and their magical game.
