The Orange Goldfish Mystery

Lily had always wanted to be a spy. Not a regular spy who wore suits and dark sunglasses, but a magical spy who could discover secrets no one else could see.

One afternoon, while sitting by her grandmother's pond, Lily spotted something unusual. An orange goldfish was swimming in perfect circles, creating tiny ripples that spelled out letters. L-I-L-Y.

"You can see me!" bubbles appeared on the water's surface.

Lily gasped. The goldfish popped its head above the water—yes, popped its HEAD! It had sparkly blue eyes and tiny silver spectacles.

"I'm Finnegan," the goldfish said. "I've been waiting for someone who would notice my messages. I'm actually a spy for the Pond Kingdom."

"A spy goldfish?" Lily asked, her eyes wide.

"The most important spy in all the water!" Finnegan swished his orange tail proudly. "I discover secrets that help make children's wishes come true. Like that time I found out Emma wanted a puppy, so I left clues for her parents. They adopted Max last week!"

Lily's heart beat faster. "Can you help me with something?"

"Perhaps. What do you wish?"

"I want my little brother Toby to stop being scared of the dark. Every night, he cries. I don't know how to help him."

Finnegan circled thoughtfully. "I've been spying on something magical. Moonbeams collect in old orange peelings at night. They become tiny stars that glow for a whole year. But someone needs to find them first."

"Where?"

"Behind the old oak tree, under the third rock from the left. Tonight, when the moon rises."

That night, Lily and Toby crept into the backyard. Under the third rock, they found something amazing—tiny, glowing stars hidden among orange peels from grandmother's compost.

"They're beautiful!" Toby whispered.

"Let's collect them," Lily said. "We can put them in a jar for your room."

Together, they gathered fifteen shimmering stars. When placed in a glass jar, they glowed softly, like captured moonbeams.

That night, Toby fell asleep with no tears, watching the gentle orange light from his magical star jar.

"Thank you, Finnegan," Lily whispered by the pond the next morning.

A tiny ripple appeared: YOU'RE THE REAL SPY, LILY. YOU SPY WITH YOUR HEART.

Lily smiled. Some secrets, she learned, are the most wonderful ones to discover.
