The Orange Garden Spy
Lily loved oranges more than anything in the world. Every Saturday, she would save her orange peel and make little curly shapes with them, leaving them in the garden as gifts for the fairies she imagined lived there.
One sunny morning, something strange happened. As Lily peeled her orange, a sparkly mist floated up from the fruit. When the mist cleared, Lily could see something she had never noticed before—a creature shuffling behind the oak tree!
It looked like a zombie, with patchy clothes and slow, clumsy steps. Lily wasn't scared, though. Instead, she became a spy! She crept quietly through the flowers, hiding behind bushes, watching this mysterious visitor.
The zombie wasn't scary at all. He was trying to plant flowers, but his hands were too clumsy. Every time he tried to put a seed in the dirt, he would drop it or sneeze and blow it away. Lily watched from her hiding spot, feeling sorry for him.
"Do you need help?" Lily asked, stepping out from behind the rosebush.
The zombie jumped! His name was Zed, and he explained that he was a Garden Guardian—a magical friend who helped plants grow. But he was new at the job and still learning. His zombie appearance was just his gardening uniform!
Lily and Zed became best friends. She taught him how to plant seeds properly, and he showed her secret places in the garden where magic grew. In return, Zed gave Lily a special gift—magical oranges that would always taste sweet and make whoever ate them feel happy.
Every afternoon, Lily would spy on Zed from her window, just to see if he needed help. And every Saturday, they would work together in the garden, planting flowers and eating delicious oranges.
Lily learned that sometimes, things that seem scary or strange at first might just be friends you haven't met yet. And the best adventures start when you're brave enough to say hello.
