The Orange Fish Who Swam Through Stars
Mia was a spy. Not the kind with sunglasses and secret codes, but a nature spy. Every morning, she peeked through her backyard fence with binoculars, watching birds build nests and squirrels hide acorns.
One rainy afternoon, Mia spotted something strange. In the puddle by the garden gate swam the most unusual fish — bright orange with sparkly silver scales. But fish don't swim in puddles, Mia thought. Unless...
She crept closer in her yellow rainboots. The fish zipped through the water like magic, creating tiny ripples that glowed. Suddenly, it leaped right out of the puddle and swam through the air! Mia gasped. The orange fish was swimming through raindrops, leaving a trail of sparkles like tiny lightning bolts wherever it went.
"Wait!" Mia whispered, following carefully. "Where are you going?"
The fish paused, hovering near a flower bed. Its big eyes looked sad. Mia understood — it was lost. She held out her hands, and the fish drifted closer. Its scales felt warm and hummed with energy, like a little battery of sunshine.
"I know where you live," Mia said gently. "The big pond behind the old oak tree, right?"
The fish did a happy flip, and suddenly — ZAP! A tiny lightning bolt shot from its fins, and they both disappeared in a sparkle of light.
Mia found herself standing by the pond, the orange fish swimming happily among lily pads. It jumped up and waved its fins. Mia waved back, her heart full of wonder.
The best spies, Mia learned, don't just watch — they help. And sometimes, the most magical discoveries are waiting right in your own backyard, especially on rainy days.
That night, Mia wrote in her spy journal: "Today I made friends with a fish who swims through raindrops and makes lightning. Being a spy is wonderful, but being a friend is better."
