The Orange Fish Who Swam Through Lightning
Barnaby was a tiny orange fish who lived in a pond surrounded by tall grass. He was smaller than all the other fish, and his orange scales made him stand out like a bright little fish-shaped sun underwater. The other fish sometimes made fun of him for being small and different.
One stormy evening, when the sky turned dark and purple, lightning began to flash across the clouds. Barnaby watched from below the water's surface, fascinated by the jagged bolts of light that crackled and danced above. As a particularly bright bolt of lightning struck the pond's surface, something magical happened – Barnaby felt himself being pulled upward, and suddenly he wasn't just in the water anymore. He was swimming THROUGH the lightning itself!
The lightning felt warm and tingling, like swimming through liquid sunshine. Barnaby found himself in a magical kingdom high above the clouds, where glowing fish just like him swam through rivers of golden light. They were all orange too! "Welcome, Little Lightning Swimmer," an ancient fish with silver whiskers told him. "Only the purest hearts can swim through lightning to reach our kingdom. You are very special."
Barnaby made friends with the sky fish and learned that he could visit anytime there was a storm. Back in his pond, he became known as the fish who could dance with lightning. The other fish no longer made fun of him – instead, they gathered to watch in awe whenever storms came.
Barnaby learned that being different wasn't a bad thing at all. His orange scales and small size were exactly what made him magical. Every time he swam through lightning, he remembered: the things that make us different are often the things that make us special.
