The Orange Fish Who Danced With Lightning

In the deepest part of Crystal Pond lived a tiny orange fish named Finn. He was the smallest fish in the pond, but he had the biggest dreams. While other fish were content swimming among the lily pads, Finn wanted to know what lay beyond the water's surface.

One evening, as the sky turned purple and storm clouds gathered, Finn watched from below as jagged bolts of lightning flashed across the heavens. The other fish hid in the reeds, trembling. They had heard stories about Lightning – how she was fierce and dangerous, how she could set the world on fire.

But Finn wasn't frightened. He was curious.

When a particularly bright bolt struck the water's surface, sending ripples across the pond, Finn did something no fish had ever done before. He swam upward, toward the light.

The moment his orange scales broke the surface, Finn found himself floating in the air beside a girl made entirely of crackling light. She had wild hair made of sparks and eyes like stars.

"You're not scared?" she asked, surprised. "Everyone runs from me."

"I'm Finn," he said, his fins shimmering orange in her glow. "I've always wanted to meet you."

Lightning smiled, and her smile was like a thousand fireflies twinkling at once. "I'm lonely," she admitted. "I just want to play, but everyone hides."

Finn had an idea. "What if you showed me how to swim through the sky?"

And so they did – Lightning carrying Finn through the clouds, racing the wind, dancing through rainbows while the storm raged beautifully below them. They played tag with the stars and made shapes out of clouds together.

When dawn came, Lightning returned Finn to Crystal Pond. "Thank you for being my friend," she whispered, before fading into the morning mist.

Back home, the other fish swam around Finn in wonder. "We saw you dancing with Lightning!"

"She's not scary at all," Finn told them, his orange scales glowing softly. "She was just lonely, like anyone can be. Sometimes the things we fear most are just waiting for someone brave enough to say hello."

And from that day on, whenever storms came to Crystal Pond, all the fish would swim to the surface to wave at their friend Lightning, who always waved back with the biggest, brightest smile anyone had ever seen.
