The Orange Fish Who Couldn't Swim
In the deepest corner of the Magical Pond lived a tiny orange fish named Finn. Finn was special because he was the color of a sunset, bright and shining like a little swimming star. But Finn had a big secret: he was afraid of the water.
Every day, Finn would watch his friends splash and play. They'd swim in circles and chase dragonflies, but Finn stayed hidden in the tall grass at the water's edge. His scales would sparkle in the sunlight, but his heart felt heavy.
One afternoon, a curious little girl named Lily sat by the pond. She noticed something orange glowing in the grass and crept closer. There she found Finn, peeking at the water with wide, scared eyes.
"Why don't you come swimming?" Lily asked gently.
Finn's voice trembled. "The water looks so big and deep. What if I get lost? What if I can't find my way back?"
Lily thought for a moment, then pulled something round and bright from her pocket. It was an orange slice, glistening like a tiny sun. "You know what makes this orange slice float?" she asked. "It's not afraid. It knows the water will hold it up."
She placed the orange slice on the pond's surface. It bobbed gently, riding the ripples like a little boat.
Finn watched, fascinated. The water didn't seem so scary anymore.
"I'll stay right here with you," Lily promised. "And if you ever feel scared, just look for my orange. It will be like having a friend right beside you."
Taking a deep breath, Finn wiggled his fins and slipped into the water. At first, his heart pounded. But then he felt something wonderful—the water lifted him, cradled him, supported him like a gentle hug. His orange scales caught the sunlight, painting the water around him in shimmering gold.
He swam a little. Then he swam a lot. He discovered that swimming felt like flying, only better.
From that day on, Finn became the bravest fish in the pond. He even helped other scared fish learn to swim. And every afternoon, Lily would visit, bringing orange slices as a reminder of the day a frightened fish learned to trust.
Sometimes, the bravest thing you can do is try something new—especially when you have a friend cheering you on.
