The Orange Fish's Secret

Lily stood at the edge of Bluebell Pond, her toes wiggling in the cool green grass. The water sparkled like a thousand tiny diamonds in the afternoon sun, but Lily's knees shook like jelly leaves in the wind.

"I'll never learn swimming," she whispered, watching her friends splash and laugh in the shallow end.

That's when she saw it—a flash of bright orange beneath the surface. Lily leaned closer. An orange fish with scales like sunset clouds swam right up to where she stood. Its fins waved like tiny silk flags.

"Hello, little friend," the fish seemed to say, popping its head above the water. "I'm Finn. Are you afraid of the water?"

Lily's eyes went wide. "You can talk?"

Finn did a somersault in the water. "Magic lives in places where courage grows. The water isn't something to fear—it's like a big, cool blanket that wants to hug you."

"But what if I sink?" Lily asked.

"Did you know that fish first taught humans to swim?" Finn's orange scales shimmered. "We've been waiting for you to visit Bluebell Pond. Every splash you make sends ripples of magic to help other children who are afraid."

Lily looked at the water. It didn't look so scary anymore.

"Will you stay with me?" she asked Finn.

"Always," said the orange fish. "Just remember what the water loves best: brave hearts that try."

Lily took her first step into the cool water. Then another. Finn swam beside her, his orange scales glowing like a tiny lantern. Soon, Lily was floating, then kicking, then swimming!

"Look!" she called to her friends. "I'm doing it!"

That night, Lily dreamed of orange fish and sparkling water, but mostly she dreamed of being brave enough to try something new. And whenever she visited Bluebell Pond after that, Finn was always there, reminding her that the best adventures start with a single splash of courage.
