The Orange Fish's Magic Pool

Lily loved visiting her grandmother's house, especially the secret spot behind the garden. There, hidden among tall oak trees, was a small pool of water that sparkled like diamonds in the sunlight.

One hot afternoon, Lily knelt by the pool's edge, dipping her fingers into the cool water. Suddenly, something bright flashed beneath the surface. An orange fish, more brilliant than any sunset, swam right up to her hand.

"Hello there!" Lily gasped. The fish had scales that glowed like tiny stars and fins that shimmered like silk.

"I'm Clementine," the fish said in a voice that sounded like wind chimes. "This is my magical pool. It grants one wish each summer to someone with a pure heart."

Lily's eyes grew wide. "You can talk?"

"In this pool, anything is possible." Clementine did a graceful flip. "What would you wish for?"

Lily thought about all the things she wanted—a new bicycle, more toys, endless candy. But then she remembered her friend Emma, who had been sad since her puppy ran away. Emma lived next door and hadn't smiled in weeks.

"I wish for Emma to find her lost puppy," Lily said without hesitation.

Clementine's orange scales glowed brighter than ever. The water began to swirl with rainbow colors. "You have chosen wisely, Lily. Your wish will come true tonight."

That evening, Lily heard happy barking next door. Emma was dancing in her yard with her little puppy, who had somehow found his way home.

The next day, Lily visited the pool again, but Clementine was gone. All that remained was a single orange scale resting on a smooth stone. Lily picked it up carefully—it still felt warm, like a tiny piece of magic.

She learned that day that the best wishes are the ones that help others. And sometimes, the most magical pools aren't made of water at all—they're made of kindness.
