The Orange Fish of Lightning

Leo sat by the edge of the swimming pool, his toes barely touching the water. While other children laughed and splashed, he stayed on dry land, clutching his orange towel. He had always been afraid of swimming, and the deep water seemed like a scary monster waiting to pull him under.

One afternoon, a storm gathered. The sky turned dark purple, and jagged bolts of lightning streaked across the clouds like cracks in a giant's window. Everyone ran for cover, but Leo lingered, watching the storm in wonder.

Suddenly, something magical happened. A tiny fish made entirely of glowing orange light appeared, swimming through the rainy air as if it were water. It circled around Leo, leaving trails of sparkles like a shooting star.

"Don't be afraid," the fish seemed to say without speaking. "The water wants to be your friend."

The orange fish dived into the pool, and to Leo's amazement, the water began to glow with the same warm light. The lightning overhead made the pool shine like liquid sunshine.

"Come swimming with me," the fish's voice echoed in Leo's heart.

Something changed inside Leo. The scary water now looked magical and inviting. He stepped into the pool, and the orange fish guided him, showing him how to move his arms and legs. For the first time, Leo wasn't afraid. He was flying through water!

The fish taught him that courage doesn't mean not being scared. It means trying even when you are afraid, because sometimes the most magical adventures wait just beyond our fears.

When the storm passed and the sun came out, the orange fish faded away like a dream. But Leo could still swim now. And sometimes, during summer storms, he sees a flash of orange light in the water and knows his friend is still there, watching over him and every child learning to be brave.
