The Orange Cloud That Loved Spinach

Lily was the only girl in her class who actually liked spinach. While her friends made funny faces at their lunch, Lily happily munched on her green leaves.

One sunny afternoon, Lily spotted something strange in her garden—a tiny, fluffy cloud the color of a bright orange. It bobbed and weaved near the spinach patch, looking sad.

"Hello there," Lily called softly.

The orange cloud floated closer. It made a soft, whirring sound like a gentle breeze.

Lily noticed the cloud seemed especially interested in her spinach plants. "Would you like some?" She held out a fresh spinach leaf.

To her amazement, the cloud nibbled the leaf right out of her hand! As it ate, the cloud grew bigger and brighter, until it was the size of a beach ball.

"More, please?" the cloud said in a voice like twinkling stars.

Lily giggled and fed the cloud more spinach. With each bite, it glowed warmer and friendlier.

"I'm Clementine," the cloud said. "I've been floating around for days looking for spinach. It gives me the magic to go swimming!"

"Swimming?" Lily asked. "Clouds don't swim."

"We do in the Sky River!" Clementine bounced excitedly. "Come with me! I can show you!"

Lily hesitated only a moment. She climbed onto Clementine's fluffy back, and WHOOSH—they shot straight up into the sky!

Above her house, Lily saw something incredible: a shimmering, golden river flowing through the clouds.

"The Sky River!" Clementine cheered. "Hold on tight!"

They dove in, and instead of falling, they floated! The water felt like warm sunlight. Lily found she could swim through the air, laughing as rainbow fish made of clouds swam beside them.

For hours they played, swimming and splashing through the golden river. Clementine did spins and flips, making the most beautiful shapes.

Finally, they returned to Lily's garden, both tired but happy.

"Thank you for the spinach," Clementine said, hugging Lily with a warm, fluffy embrace. "And thank you for being my friend."

"Anytime," Lily smiled. "Visit tomorrow?"

"Every day!" Clementine promised.

That night, Lily went to sleep with a belly full of spinach and a heart full of joy. She had discovered something magical: sometimes the most wonderful adventures come from the most unexpected places—even a vegetable patch and a hungry orange cloud.
