The Orange Cat's Pool of Magic

Lily was playing in her backyard when she noticed something strange. An orange cat with bright green eyes was watching her from behind the oak tree. When Lily stepped closer, the cat meowed and ran toward the woods, then stopped and looked back as if saying, 'Follow me!'

Curious, Lily followed the orange cat through dappled sunlight until they reached a hidden clearing she had never seen before. In the center glowed a small pool, its water shimmering with rainbow colors.

But there was someone else there—a little zombie boy sitting on a log, his gray face sad and lonely. Lily wanted to run, but the orange cat rubbed against the zombie's leg like he was an old friend.

'I'm not scary,' the zombie said softly. 'I'm just lonely. Everyone runs away when they see me.'

Lily stepped closer. 'What's your name?'

'Zed,' he said. 'I haven't had a friend in so long that I'm forgetting how to smile.'

The orange cat jumped into the magical pool, and suddenly the water began to glow even brighter. Little orange spheres floated to the surface—magic orbs that looked like tiny suns.

'These are sunshine vitamins,' Zed explained. 'This pool grows them, but I can never reach them before they disappear.'

Lily had an idea. She quickly scooped up an orange sphere before it could fade. 'Catch!' she tossed it to Zed, who caught it with surprise.

When Zed ate the sunshine vitamin, something magical happened. His gray skin turned rosy and healthy. His dull eyes sparkled. And best of all—a big smile spread across his face!

'Thank you, Lily!' Zed exclaimed. 'Your friendship was the real magic all along.'

The orange cat purred happily as the three new friends spent the afternoon playing by the magical pool. Lily learned that sometimes the scariest-looking creatures just need someone to see past appearances and give them a chance.

From that day on, whenever Lily saw the orange cat in her yard, she knew adventure—and friendship—was waiting just beyond the trees.
