The Orange Cat's Magical Friend
Lily's cat Marmalade was the brightest orange cat anyone had ever seen. His fur glowed like sunshine, and his green eyes sparkled like emeralds. Every morning, Marmalade would curl up on Lily's windowsill, watching the world go by.
One autumn afternoon, Marmalade saw something strange in the garden. A lopsided figure was stumbling around the pumpkin patch. The creature looked confused, dropping small orange fruits and picking them up again.
Marmalade leaped from the windowsill and trotted outside. Lily followed, curious about her cat's adventure.
What they found surprised them both. It wasn't a scary monster at all—it was a little zombie made entirely of autumn leaves! His twig fingers kept dropping the oranges he was trying to gather.
"I'm Zomby," the leaf creature rustled softly. "I'm trying to make orange juice for the forest animals, but my fingers are too clumsy."
Marmalade rubbed against Zomby's leggy leaves, purring so loudly that Zomby's acorn buttons wiggled.
Lily had an idea. "Marmalade can help! He's great at batting things around."
Together, they made the perfect team. Zomby rolled the oranges across the grass, and Marmalade gently batted them into a basket. Soon, they had gathered enough fruit to fill three big pitchers.
That evening, all the forest creatures came to sip the fresh orange juice. Squirrels, rabbits, and even a shy deer celebrated with them. Zomby smiled—or at least tried to—his leafy face crinkling happily.
"Being different doesn't mean you can't do great things," Zomby whispered as the stars began to twinkle.
Lily hugged her orange cat tight. "And having friends makes everything possible."
From that day on, every autumn, Marmalade, Lily, and Zomby would gather oranges together. The little leaf zombie had found his purpose, and the orange cat had found his best friend.
