The Orange Cat's Magic Palm
Lila loved sitting under the old palm tree in her backyard. Its long leaves danced in the breeze like green fingers waving hello. But Lila was lonely. She had just moved to this new house and hadn't made a friend yet.
One sunny morning, something magical happened. A bright orange cat appeared at the base of the palm tree. Its fur was the exact color of a ripe orange, and its eyes sparkled like golden honey.
"Hello there," Lila whispered, not wanting to scare the cat away.
The orange cat didn't run. Instead, it did something surprising—it climbed right up the palm tree! When it came back down, it held a small, glowing fruit between its paws.
"This is a sunshine vitamin," the cat said! Lila rubbed her eyes. Had the cat just spoken?
"Yes, I did speak," the cat purred. "My name is Mango. And this special fruit from my magic palm tree will help you see what's truly important."
Lila took the small fruit. It tasted like sunshine and happiness. Suddenly, the world looked different. She noticed a girl her age watching from behind the fence next door—a girl she'd never seen before, even though they'd lived there for weeks.
"Go say hello," Mango whispered. "That's what the sunshine vitamin does—it helps you find friends."
Lila's heart raced, but she felt brave. She walked to the fence. "Hi, I'm Lila."
"I'm Sophie!" the girl exclaimed, smiling. "I've been wanting to meet you, but I was too shy."
They talked for hours. When Lila looked back, the palm tree was still there, but Mango was gone.
The next day, Lila found another orange fruit on her pillow. More importantly, she found herself laughing with Sophie as they built a fort under the palm tree. The magic vitamin hadn't just helped her find a friend—it had given her the courage to be one.
And sometimes, when the sun was just right, Lila would see a flash of orange fur in the palm tree and remember: the best magic in the world isn't found in fruit or trees, but in the friendship we make and share with others.
