The Orange Cat and the Friendly Zombie
Mango was a bright orange cat with fluffy fur and emerald eyes. She lived in a cozy house with a big garden where she loved to chase butterflies and nap in sunbeams.
One afternoon, Mango spotted something strange poking out of the earth near the papaya tree. It was a shiny golden cable, glimmering in the sunlight. Being a curious cat, she gave it a gentle tug. The cable wiggled back! She tugged harder. The cable wiggled again.
Mango dug her paws into the soft dirt and pulled with all her might. Suddenly, POP! Up popped a zombie!
But this zombie wasn't scary at all. He had green skin that sparkled like dewdrops, kind eyes, and wore a flower crown. He held a basket filled with ripe papayas.
"Hello there, little friend," the zombie said with a warm smile. "I'm Pip, the papaya gardener. My cable connects my underground garden to the sunshine up here."
Mango's tail puffed up with surprise, but she didn't run away. Pip's voice was gentle, and he smelled sweet like tropical fruit.
"Would you like a papaya?" Pip asked, offering her a slice. "They grow extra sweet because of the sunshine cable."
Mango took a tentative bite. It was the most delicious thing she had ever tasted! She purred loudly and rubbed against Pip's leg.
From that day on, Mango visited Pip every afternoon. They shared papayas, and Pip told her stories about the magical seeds he planted. The other neighborhood animals soon came too, and Pip's underground garden became everyone's favorite place.
Mango learned something important that summer: things that seem strange at first might turn out to be wonderful. The zombie who lived underground wasn't scary—he was the best friend a curious orange cat could ever wish for.
And every evening, Mango curled up by the papaya tree, dreaming of tomorrow's adventures with her friend Pip, the kindest zombie in the whole wide world.
