The Orange Cable That Ran to the Stars

Lily was running through her backyard when she spotted something strange. A bright orange cable was snaking through the grass, glowing softly like a piece of captured sunshine.

"Where are you going?" Lily whispered, following the mysterious cable as it wound around the old oak tree, skipped over the garden fence, and continued down the street.

The cable seemed alive, pulsing with warmth and humming a gentle tune. Lily's heart pounded with excitement as she followed it past the park, where her friend Max was playing.

"Lily! Where are you running?" Max called out.

"Look!" she pointed. "This orange cable is leading somewhere magical!"

Max's eyes widened. Together, the two friends followed the glowing cable as it wound through the neighborhood, past the library, and up the steep hill overlooking their town.

"It's going toward the stars!" Max gasped.

At the top of the hill, the orange cable stretched straight up into the sky, disappearing into the clouds. And there, sitting on a stone bench, was an old woman with silver hair and twinkling eyes.

"You found my sunshine cable," she said with a warm smile. "I use it to collect orange rays from sunset and share them with children who need extra joy."

The woman showed them how the cable collected golden-orange light from the horizon and sent it down to places where children felt sad or lonely.

"But it's getting tangled," she said worriedly. "I haven't been able to keep it running smoothly."

Lily and Max immediately began helping. They untangled knots, smoothed out twists, and cheered as the orange cable began humming louder, glowing brighter.

"Thank you," the woman said, pressing something into each of their hands — small, orange-glowing stones. "Whenever you're feeling sad, hold these, and remember: you helped keep the sunshine running for others."

That night, Lily and Max sat on their front porches, watching the orange cable shimmering against the starlit sky. They realized that the best adventures aren't just about discovering magic — they're about helping others find it too.
