The Orange Cable's Secret

Lily loved exploring the beach near her grandmother's cottage. Every morning, she'd search for shells and shiny stones. But one Tuesday, she found something strange—a bright orange cable stretching from the sand into the sparkling blue water.

"What are you?" Lily whispered, tracing the cable with her finger. It pulsed with a warm, golden glow, like sunshine trapped inside a rope.

Curious, she gently pulled. The cable moved through the water effortlessly, as light as a piece of kelp. Suddenly, the surface rippled. A small orange creature popped up—a tiny dragon with scales the color of sunset and wings like transparent jellyfish.

"Thank you!" the dragon squeaked. "I've been stuck for three days!"

Lily's eyes widened. "You can talk?"

"All sea dragons can!" The creature did a happy flip in the air. "I'm Clementine. That orange cable is my tail! It got tangled in an old fishing net."

Lily's heart swelled with wonder. "I'm Lily. Do you live down there?"

"In the coral castle!" Clementine bobbed excitedly. "Will you come see? Just hold my cable—it's magical. It keeps you breathing underwater!"

Lily hesitated, but Clementine's friendly smile convinced her. Together, they followed the orange cable down into the crystal-clear water. Fish of every color darted around them. Sea turtles glided gracefully through swaying seaweed forests.

Deeper they went, until a magnificent castle appeared, built from living coral that shimmered pink, purple, and blue. Inside, hundreds of little orange sea dragons were celebrating.

"Clementine's home!" they cheered.

The queen dragon approached Lily. "You saved our youngest explorer. For your kindness, we grant you one wish."

Lily thought carefully. "I wish... that every child could see how beautiful the ocean is, so they'll always want to protect it."

The queen smiled. "A wise wish. From now on, when children visit the beach with pure hearts, the water will show them its magic."

That summer, Lily brought her friends to the cove. Each child held Clementine's cable and witnessed the underwater wonder. They learned that friendship and kindness could unlock the most amazing adventures—and that some treasures are worth protecting forever.
