The Orange Bull's Secret Pool
Lily loved summer days, especially when she could visit the old swimming hole behind her house. But today, something magical happened.
As she approached the pool, her golden retriever Barnaby started barking excitedly at something in the tall grass. Lily pushed aside the leaves and gasped. There, standing by the water's edge, was the most unusual creature she had ever seen.
It was a small bull, no bigger than a dog, with fur the color of a bright orange sunset. His horns were made of twisted river reeds, and his eyes sparkled like moonlight on water.
"Hello, young friend," the bull said gently. "I've been waiting for someone pure of heart to find my secret pool."
Lily's eyes went wide. "You can talk?"
"Many things can talk if you listen with your heart," the orange bull replied. "My name is Sunny, and I am the guardian of this magical pool. Every hundred years, I choose one special person to share its wonders."
Barnaby wagged his tail happily as if he understood every word.
"What makes this pool so special?" Lily asked.
Sunny smiled. "Step closer and see."
Lily approached the water. It wasn't just a pool—it was like looking into a mirror that showed not just her reflection, but her dreams too. She saw herself flying, painting masterpieces, helping animals.
"This pool shows you who you truly are inside," Sunny explained. "The water remembers your hopes, even when you forget them."
Lily dipped her fingers in the cool water. Suddenly, she understood something important. She had always been afraid to try new things, but the pool showed her that she was braver than she thought.
"Thank you, Sunny," she whispered. "I needed to see that."
The orange bull nodded. "Remember, little one: true courage isn't about not being scared. It's about being scared and doing brave things anyway."
As the sun began to set, Sunny's form started to fade like mist. "I'll be here whenever you need reminding of your own strength. The pool is always here for you."
Lily and Barnaby walked home as stars filled the sky. She knew that whenever she felt afraid, she could close her eyes and remember the orange bull's wisdom. Some magic stays with you forever, even after you leave the pool behind.
