The Orange Bull's Magic Secret

Timmy was terrible at baseball. Every game, he struck out while other kids cheered. One summer afternoon, he sat crying near his grandfather's farm, throwing oranges at the fence. Suddenly, the old bull Barnaby trotted over.

"Give me one of those oranges," the bull said.

Timmy gasped. "You can talk!"

Barnaby chewed the orange thoughtfully. "I can do more than talk. I can help you with baseball."

From behind his ear, the bull pulled out a shiny iphone - but this wasn't ordinary. The screen glowed with magical golden light, showing exactly how Timmy should swing, where to stand, how to catch.

"Where did you get that?" Timmy marveled.

"The Orange Fairy left it," Barnaby winked. "She knew someone would need help."

Every day that summer, Timmy practiced with the magical bull. The iphone's screen painted baseballs with trailing sparkles so Timmy could track them perfectly. Barnaby showed him how to stand like a tree rooted deep in the ground, how to swing like wind through the leaves.

"You're not just hitting a ball," the bull taught. "You're painting magic in the air."

By fall, Timmy made the team. In the championship game, with bases loaded and two outs, he closed his eyes and remembered Barnaby's words. He swung his bat like he was painting a rainbow across the sky.

CRACK! The ball sailed over the fence - an orange speck against blue sky.

His teammates lifted him on their shoulders. But later, when Timmy ran to thank Barnaby, the pasture was empty. Only a single orange remained on the grass, and beside it, a note: "True magic isn't in phones - it's in believing in yourself. Your friend, Barnaby."

Timmy smiled, peeling the orange. Some magic, he realized, you carry forever in your heart.
