The Orange Bull's Magic Gift

Lily loved visiting her grandmother's farm, especially the secret creek behind the old barn. One sunny afternoon, she sat by the water's edge, peeling an orange for a snack. Suddenly, the water began to bubble and shimmer.

Out popped the most unusual creature Lily had ever seen — a tiny bull no bigger than her thumb, with fur the color of fresh oranges and horns that sparkled like diamonds.

'Hello there!' the little bull said in a voice like gentle splashes. 'I'm Barnaby, guardian of this special water.'

Lily's eyes widened. 'But why are you so orange?' she asked.

'Every sunset, I collect golden light and mix it with the creek water,' Barnaby explained. 'It makes me orange, but more importantly, it creates the most powerful vitamin in the world — the vitamin of kindness!'

'That's not a real vitamin!' Lily giggled.

'Oh, but it is,' Barnaby said seriously. 'Whenever someone shares their food or helps a friend, they're taking a dose of kindness vitamin. It makes hearts stronger and friendships brighter.'

Just then, Lily's grandmother called from the house. 'Lily! Your friend Tommy is sick. He can't come out to play today.'

Lily's face fell. Tommy was her best friend, and they had plans to build a fairy house by the creek.

Barnaby nudged her hand with his wet nose. 'Take your orange to him. Sharing is the best vitamin of all.'

Lily wrapped her orange and rushed to Tommy's house. When she arrived, Tommy looked pale and tired, but his face lit up when he saw her.

'I brought you something,' Lily said, splitting the orange into perfect halves. 'It's full of sunshine and water magic.'

They sat by his window, eating orange segments and talking about building fairy houses when he felt better. Lily noticed something sparkling in the juice, just like Barnaby's horns.

The next day, Tommy was well enough to visit the creek. Lily searched for Barnaby, but the water only rippled gently in the breeze. Yet in the reflection, she thought she saw something orange and tiny splash beneath the surface.

'He's still here,' Lily whispered, squeezing Tommy's hand. 'And his magic is too — whenever we're kind to each other.'

Tommy nodded, popping an orange slice into his mouth. 'Best vitamin ever,' he said, and they both laughed until the sunset turned the water golden, just like Barnaby's fur.
