The Orange Bull's Lightning Game

Barnaby was no ordinary bull. While other bulls in the valley were brown and black, Barnaby was as orange as a freshly peeled tangerine. The other bulls would snort and laugh when he trotted by.

"Go play with your oranges," they'd mock. Barnaby would hang his head, his orange ears drooping.

One hot afternoon, Barnaby watched the village children playing baseball. He loved the crack of the bat and the cheers when someone scored. The ball flew high—and suddenly, Barnaby couldn't help himself. He started running, faster and faster, his orange coat blazing like fire in the sun. The children gasped as Barnaby caught the ball in his mouth and trotted back, dropping it gently at the pitcher's feet.

"Wow!" shouted little Maya. "Can you play with us?"

Barnaby's heart soared. For the first time, someone wanted to include him!

But then something magical happened. Dark clouds gathered, and lightning flashed across the sky—a brilliant bolt that struck right where Barnaby stood. Instead of hurting him, the lightning danced around his orange horns, making them glow like golden lanterns.

The children watched in wonder as Barnaby transformed. His orange fur shimmered with magical sparks, and when he ran around the baseball diamond, he left trails of rainbow light behind him.

"You're not just a bull," Maya whispered, her eyes wide. "You're magic!"

That day, Barnaby learned something wonderful: being different wasn't bad at all. His orange coat and magical lightning powers made him special. The children made him the official mascot of their baseball team, and whenever Barnaby ran the bases, lightning would flash in celebration overhead.

The other bulls stopped laughing. They watched from the hill, wishing they were special too.

Barnaby just smiled his orange face and kept playing baseball with his new friends, knowing that the things that make us different are often the things that make us wonderful.
