The Ocean's Secret Game
Lily loved the beach more than anything. Every morning, she would run across the warm sand to where the blue water kissed the shore. But today was special—today she had brought her favorite thing: her grandfather's old baseball.
"Want to play?" a voice bubbled up from the waves.
Lily blinked. A small boy with shimmering sea-green skin was sitting on a rock, his hair dripping with tiny pearls.
"I'm Finn," he said. "And I've been watching you throw that ball all by yourself. Want a friend to play with?"
Lily's heart soared. She had never had a friend who lived in the ocean!
Finn taught her a magical game. When she threw the baseball into the water, it wouldn't sink. Instead, it would skip across the surface like a stone, leaving trails of glittering bubbles wherever it touched. Each time Finn caught it, he would dive beneath the waves and burst up in a splash of rainbow drops.
"The water remembers everything," Finn explained as they played. "Every happy moment gets stored in a bubble. That's why the ocean sparkles so."
They played until the sun began to set, painting the sky in shades of pink and gold.
"Will I see you tomorrow?" Lily asked.
Finn smiled. "The ocean is always here, and so am I—if you believe in magic."
He tossed the baseball back to her, but now it shimmered with an extra special glow, as if it carried a piece of ocean magic inside.
Lily ran home, her heart full of wonder. She realized that the best adventures come when you open your heart to new friends—even ones who might seem different at first. And sometimes, the most ordinary things, like a baseball game, can become extraordinary when shared with someone special.
That night, Lily fell asleep to the sound of waves, already dreaming of tomorrow's game with her magical friend by the sea.
