The Ocean's Baseball Game
Toby was the smallest kid on his baseball team, and he always struck out. One hot summer day, he sat by the beach, watching his friends play, when something sparkled in the sand. It was a tiny orange bottle labeled "Magic Ocean Vitamins." Inside were glowing blue pearls that smelled like saltwater taffy.
"Maybe one will help me hit the ball," Toby whispered. He swallowed a pearl, and suddenly his legs felt light as feathers. He ran to the water and dove in — but he didn't come up for air. Instead, he could breathe! Tiny fish in colorful jerseys swarmed around him. "You found our vitamins!" cheered a clownfish named Crick. "Now you can play in the Underwater Baseball League!"
Toby's eyes widened. The ocean floor had been transformed into a magical baseball diamond, with seashell bases and coral bats. A giant octopus was the umpire, and dolphins raced through the outfield. Toby's heart pounded — this was even better than regular baseball!
Crick tossed him a pearl-white baseball. "Remember what makes you special," the little fish said. Toby thought about how he practiced every day, how he never gave up. He swung the coral bat with all his might, and the ball sailed through the water like a shooting star, landing right in a treasure chest at home plate!
The sea creatures cheered so loudly that bubbles rose all the way to the surface. That day, Toby learned something wonderful: he didn't need magic to be brave — he had courage inside him all along. When he swam back to shore, his friends were amazed. "Where have you been?" they asked. Toby smiled, his skin still shimmering with ocean magic. "Just practicing," he said, stepping up to the plate. This time, he hit the ball so far it nearly reached the clouds.
