The Not-So-Spooky Zombie
Luna was a fluffy black cat with bright yellow eyes who lived in a cozy house by the sea. Her best friend was Goldie, a tiny goldfish in a sparkling blue bowl on the windowsill. Every evening, Luna would perch beside Goldie's bowl, and they would watch the sunset together.
One afternoon, Luna heard strange sounds coming from the garden. Rhythmic thwacking noises echoed through the air. Curious, she crept outside and found something amazing: a padel court! Two children were playing, hitting a small ball back and forth with their round paddles. Luna watched, mesmerized by the bouncing ball and joyful laughter.
Suddenly, from behind the old oak tree, shambled a figure. It moved slowly, with arms stretched out and groaning sounds. Luna's fur stood up. Was it a zombie?
The children stopped playing and screamed! But then the figure called out in a croaky voice, "Wait! I just want to play!"
It was Mr. Higgins, the kind old man from next door, practicing his Halloween costume! He looked exactly like a zombie, with green face paint and tattered clothes.
"I love padel," Mr. Higgins said, his wrinkled face breaking into a smile. "May I join you?"
The children looked at each other, then burst out laughing. "Yes!"
Luna purred and trotted over to rub against Mr. Higgins's leg. Even the scary-looking zombie wanted to have fun. Goldie's bowl sparkled in the sunlight as if winking.
That day, Luna learned an important lesson: things that seem scary at first might just be misunderstood. Everyone deserves a chance to show their true selves. And sometimes, even a zombie just wants to play padel with friends.
From then on, Luna, Goldie, and Mr. Higgins spent many sunny afternoons watching padel together. The zombie who wanted to play became their favorite friend, proving that kindness and friendship can surprise you in the most wonderful ways.
