The Not-So-Spooky Pyramid

Lila loved adventures, especially the kind she found in books. But today's adventure was waiting right in her grandmother's garden. Grandma had called it her "pyramid of treasures"—a tall, triangular stack of wooden boxes filled with old toys and trinkets.

"What's inside?" Lila asked, reaching toward the dusty pyramid.

"Only if you're brave," Grandma winked. "Some say a sleepy friend lives at the top."

Lila's eyes went wide. A friend? Sleepy? She climbed the first box. Then the second. By the time she reached the top, she held her breath.

There, curled in a sunbeam, was the strangest creature she'd ever seen. It had messy green hair, three eyes, and patches on its elbows. It looked like something from a storybook, but instead of being scary, it was wearing tiny flower pajamas and holding a stuffed rabbit.

"Hello," Lila whispered. "Are you... a zombie?"

The creature stretched like a cat. "ZOMBIE?" it blinked, then giggled. "No, no! I'm Zom-BEE!" It pointed to a tiny striped insect on its shoulder. "See? I'm a Zom-bee keeper! My name's Bimble, and I'm VERY sleepy because bees never nap."

Lila laughed. She had been scared of nothing! Bimble wasn't a monster—he was just different, like the main character in her favorite book.

"Want to see something magical?" Bimble asked. He led her down from the pyramid to where a tall palm tree swayed in the breeze. At its base grew dozens of flowers she'd never seen before—some that shimmered like pearls, others that glowed soft pink.

"The bees and I planted these," Bimble said proudly. "Each one makes honey that tastes like your favorite thing. Chocolate! Strawberry! Even pizza!"

Lila's mouth watered. "Can we try?"

Bimble handed her a small jar. "But first—promise you'll never judge someone by how they look. My old friends ran away because they thought I was spooky. You stayed. That makes you a TRUE friend."

Lila thought about this carefully. "I promise," she said. "My mom says real friends see with their hearts, not just their eyes."

Bimble smiled, all three eyes crinkling with joy. Together, they tasted honey that sparkled and tasted like sunshine. And from that day on, Lila visited her pyramid friend every afternoon, learning that the best adventures aren't about fighting monsters—they're about making unexpected friends who teach you that different can be wonderful.
